By the 10th grade, the unit had adopted its disturbing moniker ("It had to he gnarly," Jaughs frontman Brandon Boyd) and began playing neighborhood parties. Within a year, they moved up to all-ages clubs in the Valley. Things really changed, however, when guitarist Mike Einziger found hundred -dollar bill on the ground one day.
